When do corridors require a fire-resistance rating?
§01ANSWER
Corridor fire-resistance rating depends on occupancy and occupant load served, as set out in Table 1020.1. Many sprinklered occupancies permit a 0-hour rating above a threshold occupant load.
Read Table 1020.1 against the specific occupancy group and whether the building is equipped throughout with an automatic sprinkler system.
A 0-hour entry in the table does not remove other corridor requirements such as width and continuity.
