What is the minimum ceiling height for habitable rooms?
§01ANSWER
Habitable rooms, hallways, and portions of basements containing these spaces must have a ceiling height of not less than 7 feet.
Bathrooms, toilet rooms, and laundry rooms may have a ceiling height of not less than 6 feet 8 inches.
Beams, girders, and other obstructions are allowed to project below the required height within defined limits. Check the exceptions for sloped ceilings.
